15 Zoom Tips for Teachers to conduct effective online classes!

Zoom Cloud Meetings is a video teleconferencing software application developed by Zoom communications.

During the epidemic, millions of individuals used Zoom to work, study, and socialize from home.

Despite early privacy and security concerns, the platform now offers end-to-end encryption and other measures to protect your account and conversations against "Zoombombing" and other security vulnerabilities.

The following tips, techniques, and secret features may help you improve your video chatting experience and make the online class more interactive, effective and productive.

It will also prevent Zoom weariness and anxiety, whether you've been using Zoom for years or just joined up in the past year.

Note: The free plan allows for up to 100 simultaneous participants and a 40-minute time limit.  So, you need to prepare your teaching materials within the time bound. Paid Packages can also be bought for better extended features.

How a teacher can conduct effective zoom classes?

  1. Schedule your class on Zoom for the date/time you choose, then copy the invitation details to deliver to your students. Please note that kids will not be required to create an account in order to participate.
  2. Join your class a few minutes early to guarantee a good connection, then use the guidelines below to have a great online learning experience.
  3. Set aside some time in your first session to teach your students about Zoom and make sure they can link their audio and video.
  4. Give each class an agenda or a plan by Screen. At the start of class, share a paper or a slide. Students will have a clear understanding of how the class will proceed, what will be taught, and what activities they will participate in as a result of this.
  5. In your first virtual class, discuss online etiquette and expectations with the students, and review the issues on a regular basis.
  6. Allow your students to participate by using the whiteboard or annotating a shared document. Try whiteboarding math problems or having a student utilize annotation to indicate things such as grammatical errors in a paper you're sharing while sharing a whiteboard, document, screen, or picture.
  7. Take the opportunity to encourage your students to ask questions, make comments, and respond. Allow your students a minute to use responses, type their questions in chat, or ask their questions live while unmuted.
  8. Divide the gathering into smaller groups to debate a certain subject. You may utilize Zoom's Breakout Room function to pre-assign or auto-assign students into groups for a limited time so that they can debate topics together.
  9. Allow students to be the presenters and share their work with the rest of the class. This enables your pupils to demonstrate their work while also improving their presenting abilities. It also enables pupils to communicate with one another.
  10. Set up your meeting so that participants' microphones are muted when they enter. This eliminates background noise, allowing your pupils to concentrate on your lecture.
  11. Make eye contact with your students by looking at the camera. When teaching through video, this helps to establish a more personal relationship.
  12. Take a moment to check chat or your student's video (if on camera) to check in and receive comments from your students.
  13. Speak to the class as if you're face-to-face, and make sure you're at the right distance from the microphone for the greatest audio quality.
  14. Give your students a time to open or absorb what you've given while giving a presentation and providing pictures, files, or video.
  15. Take advantage of the 40-minutes-later break. Allow students to interact for a few moments after you finish your remarks before moving on.
